This research study will be evaluating the changes in smokers who continue to smoke their regular brand of factory-manufactured combustible cigarettes, versus those who switch to an investigational pouched nicotine product, versus those who quit smoking for the duration of the study.

Men & Women
Between 21 and 60 years
Smoker of at least 10 cigarettes per day
BMI (Body Mass Index) between 18.0 and 40.0 kg/m2 and weigh at least 110 pounds

This study will consist of an eight-day in-house stay. Study dates are as follows:

You can also visit the Screening and Recruitment Center located at 2025 W. Sunshine Street, L-109. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Your physical screening will take place at the QPS Missouri Screening and Recruitment Center, located at 2025 West Sunshine Street, Suite L-109 in Springfield, Missouri.
Make sure to show up at your appointment time! If you are late, your appointment may have to be rescheduled depending on volume and availability.
Please remember, your screening appointment may to take up to 3-4 hours.
Requirements are as follows:
- Avoid donation of blood or plasma.
- Fast 8 hours prior to arrival (drink plenty of water during this time).
- You must provide your photo ID (You will not be able to screen without this!)
- Drink plenty of water the day before your Screening
- Alcohol should be avoided for 48 hours prior to Screening to avoid exclusion for a positive alcohol test.
Possible Procedures for screening (other than paperwork):
- DRUG SCREEN. IF YOU HAVE ANY REASON TO NOT PASS DUE TO ILLEGAL USE OF ANY DRUGS, PLEASE LET US KNOW!
- Vital Signs
- Height, weight and BMI
- Routine physical exam
- Lab work
- ECG
- Serum Pregnancy (for females)
- Exhaled Carbon Monoxide Test
- Cotinine Test
- Breath Alcohol
- Tobacco Questionnaire
Acceptable Forms of Birth Control:
- Females must be willing to use a form of contraception acceptable from screening until the end of study. Acceptable methods include:
- Hysterectomy
- Bilateral Tubal Ligation
- Tubal Occlusion
- Bilateral Oophorectomy
- Bilateral Salpingectomy
- Established use of oral, implantable, injectable or transdermal
- Physical Barrier Method with Spermicide
- Non-hormone releasing IUS
- Hormone releasing IUD
- Vasectomized Partner
- Abstinence (as a lifestyle choice, not just for the purpose of study participation)
- Post-Menopausal and not on hormone replacement therapy
- Males must be willing to use a barrier method of contraception (condoms with spermicide) or to refrain from donating sperm from screening until the end of study.
